Hidden files. How to view them

Hidden files in Windows XP and Windows 7 can be easily viewed if you follow the instructions provided in the section below. In some cases, especially when it comes to removal of viruses and malares manually, it is important to modify or delete some files which have hidden attribute. It should be mentioned that the majority of Windows operating systems have the default option not to show hidden files, folders, or drives. Below please find the instructions how to modify this default option so that you would be able to view them.

Windows XP example:

Click "My Computer", select "Tools" tab and go to "Folder options" menu:

In the window that appeared click "View" tab and select "Show hidden files and folders" option. Click "Apply" and "OK" buttons.

Windows 7, Windows Vista example:

Click "My Computer", select "Organize" tab and go to "Folder and search options" menu:

In the window that appeared click "View" tab and select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" option. Click "Apply" and "OK" buttons.

This will resolve all the issues and you will be able to view your hidden files, folders, icons and drives.
